How to prepare artwork for T-shirt printing
A good print starts with a good source file. Most avoidable quality problems come from low resolution, unwanted backgrounds, heavy compression or artwork that was never designed for the intended print size.
Start with the original file
Use the highest-quality original image you have. Screenshots, social-media downloads and images forwarded through messaging apps are often compressed and may lose fine detail.
Check the intended print size
A file that looks sharp as a small phone image may become visibly pixelated when printed across a chest. Judge resolution together with the physical size you want on the garment.
Use transparency when needed
For logos, lettering and cut-out graphics, a PNG with a true transparent background is usually more useful than a JPG with a white rectangle around the design.
Keep text and logos crisp
If you have vector artwork such as SVG, PDF, EPS or AI, keep it available. Vector graphics can be scaled without becoming pixelated and are ideal for logos and typography.
Do a final visual check
View the artwork at 100% zoom and inspect edges, small text and gradients. If the source already looks blurry or blocky on screen, printing cannot recreate detail that is not present in the file.
